Montebuena Rioja Spain ‘09

A joven wine made for jovial  time of year. Tempranillo is one of my favorite grapes in that it can be earthy and rustic as in some old style Riojas. But in the case of Montebuena, it is a young fruity expressive wine that plays on that fine line of new world and old world.  This wine will not last and is very hard to find. It is a great choice to drink with turkey or ham.

Hanna Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley ‘05

Hanna Winery has built a name for itself based on consistency.
Their Alexander Valley Cab is true to that. It has that beautiful cassis and plum nose with apparent bottle age.  The smoky leathery aromas last just long enough to get you excited, and in the palate it is elegant and soft juicy tannins.
I always enjoy drinking a wine that just has the right amount of age.

Domaine d’Orfeuilles Sparkling Malbec Rosé Touraine France NV

I am excited to have this in time for the holidays. It is fruity up front, with strawberry and cherry character, a brioche nose and a very lively palate. It tastes fun! Juicy upfront and tart in the finish with a lasting freshness and pretty little bubbles.  I am always up for a glass of Malbec!

Hollywood and Vine Cabernet Sauvignon 2480 Napa ‘06

Celia Welch is one of the most sought after wine makers of
Napa, most famous for wines such as Scarecrow.  Celia is the  artist behind the 2480.  Her expert choices on oak are apparent in this wine.
It retains the fresh boysenberry and cassis aromas, but in the palate it’s far from being a fruit bomb.  It is a mid palate pleaser of aromas such as dark
chocolate, cedar and cigar.  A true work of art!
