Prime Cru has been going strong for close to four years and today we boarded Ferrari Carano’s yacht. Over the past years we have built a strong following in the San Diego community. Many people enjoy the different aspects of the club, one being that it is free! I have members who enjoy the wine sales and others which prefer the wine seminars. When I created Prime Cru, I wanted to draw people’s attention to what is going on in San Diego. This laid back beach town has it going on. I knew that there was a need for wine education and outlets for wine events. I was right. People in San Diego are into wine. Prime Cru was created to fulfill all their needs. (more…)

I am excited to present a special event with a friend, Eddie Osterland, America’s first master sommelier. For 25 years he has hosted workshops and has been an inspiration to the sommelier community in San Diego. Together we will be hosting the “Bordeaux Dialogues”. Eddie Osterland spent about four years living, drinking and indulging in Bordeaux. Back in the day, he was drinking Mouton for $30 a bottle. If there is one person that knows Bordeaux, it’s Eddie.
On April 20th, Eddie Osterland will guide us through a dialogue and comparative tasting with Bordeaux and California. He will talk about his personal experiences and adventures with the great chateaus. We will taste some of our favorite Bordeaux wines which do not break the bank. One of Eddie’s focus is elegance. Elegance in wine has long been forgotten and with these dialogues we hope to find it again. (more…)

In September I was part of the Road Trip Washington State Wine trip (watch the video). Now I am all geared up and ready to pass on this information to you. I will be hosting a Washington State Wine Seminar. Come taste and learn about wines from Washington State. Join me as I lead you and your palate on a road trip through the wine regions of Washington State.
We will explore the history of Washington State wine through prohibition to today. We will discuss Washington’s unique climate, terroir and geology. Most importantly, we will taste through whites and reds from the different AVA’s. Ten wines will be tasted side by side so you can see the effects of Washington’s great growing conditions. I am sure that by the end, you will see why Washington State wine stands out above the rest. (more…)

Corks and Canvas: Pairing Art and Wine will be held on October 13th at Island Prime & C-Level San Diego. This is the 2nd Annual Corks and Canvas. Every art show pours wine. Corks and Canvas goes to the next step…it pairs the wine with the art. All of the artists work for the Cohn Restaurant Group. It takes a real artist to work in the hospitality industry. A person with vision, passion and ability to express oneself. Corks and Canvas is the merger, it offers outsiders a look into the psyche of your server, bus boy, host and bartender. The most amazing people I have met in my life have worked in the restaurant.
Wine is art! Art touches our emotions. Wines leaves an emotional impression. At Corks and Canvas I will pair the emotion, structure and complexity of the art with the overall emotion, structure and complexity of the wine. Art is a visual expression of life, wine is a living life form which pairs with art. The two go hand in hand. As a young student art school, I cannot tell you how many times wine influenced my art. On October 13th, wine and art will come together. (more…)
