Bo Beau Opening Wine List
Bo Beau opened in December of 2010. Cohn Restaurant Group purchased the previous restaurant, Thee Bungalow from Ed Moore, owner of the Third Corner. Bo Beau is in Ocean Beach, a beach community that many people in the restaurant industry call home. A pretty eclectic community, best way to explain it is, Haight-Ashbury on the beach. Thee Bungalow was a staple in San Diego, since it was one of the few restaurants serving French food. It’s wine list was very large and diverse. The best part was that the mark up was minimal.
COTE BONNEVILLE
A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of sitting with Hugh Schiels, owner and winemaker of Côte Bonneville. We were engaged in a conversation about the wines of Washington State and how they compared with those of Napa. He poured a taste of his Dubrul Vineyard Estate Chardonnay as he told his story. Somewhere in between Hugh telling me his transition from doctor to grower to winemaker, I lost focus. All I could concentrate on was this delicious, rounded and complex Chardonnay in front of me. Tequila by Jon Boyle
We did a staff training on Tequila. The seminar was put together by Island Prime’s Bar Manager and Mixologist, Jon Boyle. Jon has worked with the Cohn Restaurant group for many years and has always been focused on thinking outside the box, all the time using the freshest ingredients. He is an amazing teacher and this quick seminar was so helpful for our staff. I hope that you get something out of it.
