The IPad Wine List at Island Prime

The Island Prime wine list is no longer a conventional wine list.  We now use an IPad or better known as the “Wine Pad” to display our list.  We use an app called Tastevin.  This wine app allows guests to browse our list by region, grape or price.  All the wines have tasting notes, information about the winery or videos the staff created to show their favorites.  It is the greatest experience in browsing a restaurant wine list.  Guests can browse the Wine Pad and if they see something interesting, they can add it o their selections. The selection is added to a tray, very similar to a checkout cart on Amazon.com.  When the server approaches the table, the guests shows his/her selections and the server can give his/her recommendations.  If the guests enjoys the wine, they can later access it by emailing it to themselves.

From an operations point of view, it is a godsend.  The Wine Pad allows us to have better control of sales and inventories.  If we are down to the last bottle and  a guest orders the wine, it is automatically removed so that another guest does not order a wine which is out of stock.  The Wine Pad is the next wave of the restaurant experience.  We are proud to be at the forefront and would appreciate your opinion.
